Levels 1 and 2 • Beginners • You are not in good shape

Level 3 • Intermediate Bikers • You must be in good shape

Level 4 • Advanced Bikers • You are fit and in good shape

Level 5 • Expert Bikers • You are in very good shape

Besides the classification for overall difficulty level of each Bike Tour, each day is also classified from 1 to 5. Usually when the trails are difficult, we ride less km/day and when the trails are easy, we ride more km/day. Please note that the purpose of Bike Tours is not to train, but only to enjoy your bicycle, nature and environment. You are on holidays!

Private Cycling Tours:

These tours are designed and organised on request in consultaion with you and your party to suite the objectives and locations you may be wanting in a Private Cycling tour.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT ON A PORTUGAL BIKE TOUR?

The Tours are designed so we begin at a certain point and we end elsewhere. You do not start and end at the same place. We think that is the best way to discover Portugal …riding a bicycle! Read the specific information about each ride to learn more details.

The Tours can be Guided (with a Guide) or Self-Guided (with a GPS device with all tracks recorded). The big difference between the prices for Guided and Self-Guided Tours is that the Self-Guided Tours do not include dinners, picnics, energy bars and water during the day. There is always a backup car to provide any assistance you may need. If you want to take a Self-Guided Tour with dinners included, this can be arranged.

The Tours have a maximum of 16 participants, and a minimum of two. Larger groups are also possible upon request and according to our availability. Our Bike Tours are prepared for one week (7 days / Saturday to Friday).

The dates of the Tours are according to our calendar, or on request, according to our availability and with a small extra fee. Ask us for prices and availability

Summary:

Alentejo is one of the most famous wine regions in Portugal and is the perfect set for this Enotourism programme. It is perfect for riding a bicycle and experiencing an unforgettable adventure. This tour starts in Estremoz, a beautiful walled town surrounded by vast vineyards.  This is a spectacular tour where you will have the opportunity to visit some vineyards and also seven wineries where you can taste several types of wine. We will ride along the vineyards and learn a lot about the wine industry. One of the most typical sights in this region is a vast field with some cork oak trees here and there (the so-called Montado) and the herds (sometimes sheep, sometimes pigs or cows) usually enjoying the shade of the trees. The villages with their whitewashed one-floor houses are a picturesque landscape in Alentejo. You will have the opportunity to visit Evora, which is classified as World Heritage by UNESCO and some other towns and villages, such as Arraiolos, famous for its tapestries, S.Pedro do Corval, famous for its pottery, and Reguengos de Monsaraz. The people here are very proud of their heritage and they preserve the ancient buildings and also the ancient practices. We will visit a beautiful 18th century chapel whose walls are covered by glazed tiles and a fantastic family collection of coaches.  This is a region that has a very rich handicraft tradition – pottery, embroideries, hand-painted furniture, wrought-iron works, etc. The local gastronomy is varied and quite tasty and perfectly matches the famous local wines.
